So many dogs and cats are in need of their loving forever homes at Louisville Metro Animal Services. Are you the one to give them their forever home? Check out some of this week?s featured pets below.
Uno is a young male kitten in In foster care. he is house trained and has a short coat length. Contact the shelter for more information on him by using his pet ID number A450674.
Ava is a beautiful young cat. Her eyes are arresting and her profile photo shows her willingness to engage directly with people. She is new to the adoption center, adjusting to being in the kitten room, and doing well. She will blossom in a home environment where she can cuddle, play hard, take long naps and enjoy a window seat. We thinks she will be fine with other cats too, since she gets along with them in our open cat room (no kennels or cages). Ava is spayed, up-to-date on routine shots, is house trained, and has a short gray coat. Come meet Miss Ava and see if she is the right new companion for you. you can also call 502-473-PETS for more information about Ava.
Meet Avila. this staff favorite is 3?years old and an absolute darling. Rounded and cuddly looking (cobby body type), she is sweet-tempered, gentle, and very affectionate; a lovely girl. when you enter the adult cat room she will be one of the first to come meet you and show affection. She hopes for a quiet, laid-back home where she can snuggle with her person and hang out watching TV. Avila is spayed, up-to-date on routine shots, has a short coat, and is house trained. Come meet Avila at Animal House, the adoption center at 3516 Newburg Road and let her charm win you over. you can also contact us by e-mail at animals@louisvilleky.gov or call 502-473-PETS to learn more about her. Avila's Pet ID # is A447318.
Here's big Red! this little guy is a 4 yr old, male Chihuahua mix. Red weighs about 22 lbs and is neutered, up to date on shots, and housebroken. he gets along with other dogs and does ok with cats if properly introduced. Red will do best in a home with older children. he is a little wary of meeting new folks and will require slow introductions but usually warms up very quickly once he is comfortable. With additional socialization, this will likely resolve itself. Red really loves his chew toys, especially Kong ones and has lots of energy. he would be great for an active family that likes to take long walks and can provide plenty of playtime with a large fenced yard to expend his energy. Red is very smart and will likely adapt well with consistent training and positive reinforcement. he does have an eye condition that is currently being treated and is slowly recovering. All in all, big Red is a very happy, lovable boy who deserves a second chance at a happy home. he is currently in foster care through Louisville Metro Animal Services. His ID# is A441649.
Bixby is a 3-month-old beagle/Jack Russell Terrier (JRT) mix. She looks like a little chocolate Easter bunny, with those long, velvety brown ears. Bixby is on the shy side, very gentle and sweet and she likes to be held. She seems a little puzzled by shelter life but she's ready to come?out of her shell and be a regular, home-loving puppy again. After you hold her for a couple minutes, her tail wags constantly. She is a happy, gentle soul. Since she's got?Jack Russell?Terrier?in her, she'll be active and intelligent. Since she's part beagle, she'll be loving and social. She'd be a great addition to a household that already has a dog or dogs.. If you would like to contact Metro to ask about this dog, it is very helpful if you have the ID number (A467796) handy. Thanks!!
Ellie Mae is a 6-month-old St. Bernard. We're going to avoid the obvious Beverly Hillbillies name and not mention the cement pond (which she would about fill) and instead focus on that lovely personality. Ellie Mae is very calm. She's good on the leash and walks well with people. She's very laid-back for one so young. She is kennel mates with a very high-energy dog. Ellie Mae is fine with that. when he ran up to her in the exercise yard, wanting to play, Ellie Mae did the doggie equivalent of rolling her eyes as she walked away. She wanted some quiet time with humans but she was very polite and non-aggressive about it. Ellie Mae is a majestic-looking dog with a demure personality. Ellie Mae is spayed, up-to-date on routine shots, is tri-colored black, white, and brown with a medium coat length. If you would like to contact Metro to ask about this dog, it is very helpful if you have the ID number (A468604) handy. Thanks!!
